through the waters: unchristians as exiles & strangers
I was a slave
…..toiling under the gaze of the empire.
And I was heard by a liberator
…..led
through the waters,
through the chaos.
I was a wanderer
…..toiling under the gaze of the nations.
And I was guided by smoke and fire
…..led
through the waters
through the homelessness.
I was a mother
…..toiling under the gaze of a king.
And I was guided by an angel
…..led
through the waters,
through the escape.
I was an exile
…..toiling under the gaze of the empire.
And I was found by a baptiser
…..led
through the waters
through the resurrection.
I am a stranger
…..toiling under the gaze of the economy.
And I was found by heaven
…..led
through the waters
through death itself.
I am unChristian

ju-liar: an “extremist’s” female dog?
There is something wrong with this picture…
“Bob Brown’s Bitch”?
“Ditch the Witch”?
Such are utterly inappropriate ways of referring to any Prime Minister of Australia, though unfortunately these were not the most slanderous banners at today’s anti-carbon tax rally outside Parliament House…
Some will defend such a display, reasoning that Gillard broke an election promise by proposing a carbon tax.
Newsflash! Gillard is not the first politician to break a promise; I suppose we should level a series of profanities at every politician who lies (or perhaps changes their mind…)? Read the rest of this entry
big bawling baby backfires
Tony Abbott has surely demonstrated his inability to be Prime Minister in the last week or so.
Abbott, having made it clear that he would fight Labor on any and every policy decision, has already proven himself to be a giant baby – I’ll throw a policy tantrum until I am elected PM! If someone did that in my workplace I know what would happen to them…
So Abbott applies his big baby act to the issue of a flood levy on the tail of the worst flooding in Australia’s living memory. Whether you like or loathe the flood tax is not the point; the point is that Abbott has not opposed it for any other reason than a desire to sabotage Labor. Keep Reading…
the great wall of australia
It looks as though Australia’s newest Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, is moving to the Right on the issue of Asylum Seekers.
Nothing is certain at this point, but Ms. Gillard has given a deadline of July 8 for Labor to announce their new asylum seeker policy. In the meantime Gillard has encouraged Australians to express their opinions and vent their fears to open up frank national debate about the issue;
“For people to say they’re anxious about border security doesn’t make them intolerant, it certainly doesn’t make them a racist, it means that they’re expressing a genuine view that they’re anxious about border security.” (Article here) Read the rest of this entry
God hates flags
…once.
Okay, so maybe that statement is stretching things a bit far. I had a conversation with someone the other day in reference to that now-well-known phrase in relation to immigration, and their response was fair – “Yeah, but the Aboriginals probably immigrated here at some point as well… how far back should we go?”
Exactly! The point is no one is exempt from immigration – we are all descended from immigrants at some point. Keep Reading…
