creation/destruction?

Creation/Destruction
Why do the people who so passionately uphold a literal view of creation often pair this perspective with the view that God is going to destroy creation at the Parousia?

Am I the only one that sees a problem with this mixture?

  1. I think no matter what position you hold it happens because of the ‘who’ and ‘what’ filters you read those scriptures through. There is no such thing as no tradition or unbiased bible reading (even if people claim ‘I’m just getting it from the Bible’ you can’t tell me they never watch DVD or surf the web in relation to those subjects, thus intensifying our bias’) so (repeat, repeat) it depends on ‘whose’ teaching you cottoned onto re those subjects or which teacher you are presently watching on ‘amateur hour’ (world wide web) where anyone and everyone is an expert.

That’s more of a vent than an answer, my apologies.

  2. Or it could just be our interpretation of 2 Peter 3:5-11. That should have been raised by now so I’ll start the debate – “doesn’t that seem to be a valid argument against the doctrine of ‘new creation’?
